Elizabeth Ellen Taylor, age 82, passed away Thursday, August 18, 2011, at Marywood Nursing Home in Livonia. Elizabeth was born in Todd County, Minnesota, on October 28, 1928, the daughter of Hugh and Lessie (Denniston) Kelly. The family moved to Michigan when she was fourteen, and she graduated from Plymouth Central High School. In January of 1952, she married Kenneth Taylor, and next year they would have celebrated 60 years of marriage. She worked as a clerk at the Eastern Michigan University Library for twenty-five years, retiring in 1989. Elizabeth loved to read and travel with her husband. Among the countries they visited were Israel, Australia, Russia, Ireland and Scotland.
Elizabeth is survived by her husband, Kenneth, and daughters, Rebecca Taylor, Kelly ( Doug ) Konarske and Linda ( Mark Donnellon ) Taylor. She was grandmother to Erin ( Tim ) Strand, Kendra ( Scott ) Lytle and Casey Robinson, and great grandmother of Gavin Strand.
Visitation will be held at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 South Main Street, Plymouth, on Sunday from 1 pm until 9 pm. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday at 11 am at the Newburg United Methodist Church, 36500 Ann Arbor Trail, Livonia, with the Reverend Marsha Woolley officating.
