Elizabeth Ann Cowley

Elizabeth Ann Cowley, age 90 of Canton, Michigan passed away on July 12, 2022. She was born in Lake Orion, Michigan on November 8, 1931 to her parents, the late Milton and Ruth Elizabeth (née Leonard) Rowe.

Elizabeth, or "Ann" as she was best known, is the beloved and devoted wife of the late Rusty Cowley; loving mother of her sons, Dirk and Dennis Cowley; proud grandmother of six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, eight counting her grand-furbaby, "Henry". She is deeply loved and will be greatly missed by her siblings, a myriad of nieces and nephews, as well as countless friends. She is pre-deceased by her daughter, Diana Cowley.

Mrs. Cowley, as her students knew her, was an elementary teacher who spent most of her career in the Wayne-Westland school district at both Tinkham and Hamilton Elementary. She taught primarily 1st-3rd grades, and simply loved her profession, always thinking about better ways to teach, and making purchases that would inspire her students to learn. In retirement, she found a love for desert life in arid Nevada that led her to purchase a home in Las Vegas. She used to say that she was the opposite of a "snow bird". She always came home to Michigan for Christmas, and some of the coldest months in Michigan to return to Nevada in the warmer months. She spent many glorious years exploring all of the different parks and diverse landscapes of the State, as well as winning big on video poker on the nickel slots. She was a huge fan of road trips with destinations unknown...and her friends loved her get-up-and-go attitude. She had a great fondness for true crime and anything mysterious. She never let go of her love of life and those she held dear.

Friends may visit the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 South Main Street, Plymouth, Michigan on Friday, July 15, 2022 from 3:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Visitation will resume on Saturday, July 16, 2022 beginning at 2:00 P.M. until the time of the Funeral Service beginning at 3:00 P.M.

On Monday, July 18, 2022, Elizabeth will be laid to rest alongside her beloved husband, Rusty at Cadillac Memorial Gardens-West in Westland, Michigan.
