Elaine M. Pietrzyk

March 5, 1945 — December 30, 2021

Elaine M. Pietrzyk, born March 5, 1945 in Sparta, Michigan to parents Edgar & Evelyn Lehnert, passed away peacefully at her home in Jackson, Michigan on December 30, 2021. Elaine was the loving and devoted wife of 21 years to Paul; the beloved mother of Kate Plass (married to Nick DelCore), Jerry Pietrzyk (married to Suzy), Elizabeth Martell (married to Dave), and Clifford Plass (married to Kelly); the proud grandmother of Barrett Pietrzyk, William Martell, Johnathan Martell, Gabriel Plass, Abigail Plass and Harlyn Plass; and dear sister of Dick Lehnert (deceased), Judy Monroe, Donald Lehnert, Edward Lehnert, and Diane Lehnert.

Elaine selflessly served others her entire life. She was an outstanding and committed nurse. She was a surgical nurse at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital for more than 30 years. She was passionate about running her operating room well and caring for her patients. She served her country as a Captain in the Army Corp of Nurses. She loved her family unwaveringly and was a constantly supportive mother. She was an avid reader, fisherman, and gardener. In retirement, she worked with the Stitchers group at St. Kenneth’s Church where she made more than 2000 lap blankets for hospitalized veterans and hospice patients. Her signature blankets either read “Warmed by God’s Love” or “Thank You for Your Service”. We echo these words for Elaine; we have been warmed by her love and are eternally grateful for everything she has given us.

A Mass will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2022 beginning at 10:00 A.M. at St. Kenneth Catholic Church, 14951 North Haggerty Road, Plymouth, Michigan. A celebration of Elaine’s life will be held following the Mass. Friends may gather at the church beginning at 9:30 A.M.
