Passed away at her home on Thursday, December 15, 2016 at the age of 75. Elaine was born on November 17, 1941 in Flomaton, Alabama the daughter of Lloyd and Mae ( nee Aaron ) Harper. She graduated from Flomaton High School in 1961. She earned her BA from Huntingdon College in Montgomery, Alabama in 1964 and her first Masters Degree in Sacred Music in Germany. In 1967 she received her second Masters in Sacred Music from Whittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio. Elaine was a professor of music at Marygrove College in Detroit. She was also quite active in the music programs at her church, St. John Episcopal Church of Plymouth.
Elaine served as organist, worked with the hand bell choir and childrens choir from 1972 until 1992. She was a member of the American Guild of Organists. Elaine loved music and traveling with her husband Tom enjoying trips to Germany, Florida, Seattle, Washington and Austin, Texas. Elaine leaves behind her beloved husband Thomas whom she married on November 1,1969. She is also survived by her two sons Michael ( Tammy ) Grover and Benjamin ( Andrea ) Grover. Six grandchildren Riley, Olivia, Alaina, Samuel, Abby and Caitlin also survive. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 2 pm until 8 pm at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 South Main Street, Plymouth. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday at 1 pm with the Reverend Dana Runestad officiating.
