Edward Charles Nalodka

Edward Charles Nalodka, born on May 23, 1942, in Toledo, Ohio, passed away on April 8, 2025. Ed was a dedicated engineer at Ford Motor for over thirty years, a role through which he made significant contributions to the automotive industry. His passion for engineering was only out matched by his love for family and friends, who will cherish his memory and the impact he has made.

An avid racing fan, Ed found special joy in watching NASCAR and sharing that excitement with his loved ones, even if they did not share that same excitement. During his years at Ford, he was especially proud of his involvement in the Formula SAE student design competition. This was an opportunity for Ed to share his enthusiasm of engineering and racing with student engineers. Ed felt fortunate to mentor “true” car guys. Ed relished being the head of Advance Vehicle Development (aka the Beech) and the projects his team accomplished. While at the Beech, Ed took great pride in driving an old van and parking it his designated, named, parking spot. He enjoyed telling coworkers that his kids were the beneficiaries of driving his company cars which is why he had the old van. Along the way he was able to pick up 3 patents, several quality awards and nominations for Henry Ford Technology Awards. Talented, motivated, and professional, Ed made his mark on those around him through his skill and commitment.

As much as Ed loved engineering and racing, they were a distant second to the dedication and love he had for his family. In addition to the privilege of driving the company cars, Ed’s kids also were the recipients of Ed’s time and attention. Ed made it to every event in which his kids participated. After retiring he also helped with everyone’s home improvement project. Ed was a master planner. He was also incredibly proud of his grandchildren. Time spent with the grandkids was filled with playing card games and boat rides. Without question, the absolute love of his life was his wife of more than 60 years, Rita. At 16 years old they met on a blind date and the rest is history. Together they built a fantastic life filled with wonderful memories of time spent with family and friends.

Ed leaves behind his beloved wife, Rita, and their children: Todd (Lynn) Nalodka, Traci (Joe) Tesmond, Terri (Michael) Murray, and Tim (Krista) Nalodka. He also cherished each of his grandchildren: Derek (Catherine) Nalodka, Connor Nalodka, Tyler Tesmond, Justin (Skylar) Murray, Claire Murray, Aidan Nalodka, Trevor Tesmond, Quinn Murray, Tara Tesmond, and Maddy Nalodka. Ed is also survived by his sisters, Joanne Challen and Rosemary (Lee) Boguski.
