On Tuesday, August 16th, 2022, Emery David Reitzel, loving husband and father of four, passed away at the age of 90.

Dave was born on April 27th, 1932 in Kendallville, Indiana to Emery D. Reitzel, Sr. and Ada G. (née Curnow) Reitzel.

Dave attended Plymouth High School where he excelled in Sports and Art.  He attended Lawrence Institute of Technology where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Architecture. After College, he enlisted in the United States Navy where he was an Electrician’s Mate for two years. He was an Architect for more than 60 years.

On October 25th, 1958, Dave married Marlene (“Sue”) Blackburn. They raised one son, David, and three daughters, Paula, Gail and Beth.

Dave was an avid woodworker, fisherman and was a lifetime member of the Elks. He filled his retirement years at his home in Houghton Lake and volunteering at the Plymouth Historical Museum which he also designed.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Marlene (Sue), his son, David Reitzel (Cindy Randolph), daughters Paula Scarlett, Gail Estes and Beth (Paul) Gordon; proud grandfather of 8 – Derek Reitzel, Sara (Jim) Bansley, Nathaniel Scarlett, Gregory Reitzel, Joseph Reitzel, Alec Reitzel, Abigail Estes, Jay Estes, great-grandfather of Vienna Bansley and many nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by his sister, Natalie (Reitzel) McMahon.

Friends may visit the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 South Main Street, Plymouth, Michigan on Friday, August 19, 2022 from 3:00 P.M. until the time of the 6:00 P.M. Funeral Service.
