Doug was the long-time owner of the Amoco station that was located on Main Street and Ann Arbor Trail in Plymouth and during that time was a 20 year member of the Plymouth Rotary Club.
Doug enjoyed hunting, especially water fowl hunting. He was able to spend time hunting with his sons throughout the years. He also enjoyed fishing, spending time on the water and at the family cottage.
Doug loved a good cigar. Like hunting and fishing, smoking a good cigar brings a sense of peace and relaxation. He has always enjoyed the taste, aroma and the sheer pleasure of smoking a good cigar.
As a youth, Doug played hockey in the Detroit Rec League. As an adult, Doug spent time coaching youth hockey and also watching his son and grandsons play hockey. He always enjoyed watching a good hockey game
More than anything, Doug enjoyed his family. He had a special relationship with all of his grandchildren from the youngest to the oldest. He loved them with all of his heart and soul. He loved listening to their stories and laughing at all of their jokes. Each of them will cherish the memories of their special times with him.
