Dorothy Jayne Driscoll passed away at her home with her family beside her on Friday, January 24, 2014 at the age of 84. Dorothy was born in Youngstown, Ohio on August 1, 1929 the daughter of Robert and Jessie Jayne John Little. She graduated from Girard High School in Girard, Ohio. She joined the United States Army and served for two years as an administrative specialist. In 1952, while stationed at Fort Richie, Maryland she met her husband to be, Terrence G. Driscoll, who was also in the Army. After a brief courtship they were married in 1953 and last year they celebrated their 60th anniversary. After their discharge from the Army they resided in Lake Gogebic, Michigan then moved to Detroit where Mr. Driscoll became a Detroit Police Officer and spent 39 years on the force. Among Dorothy's many interests were reading, especially historical fiction, and listening to music. Her musical tastes spanned a wide range from Bach to Justin Timberlake. Dorothy also loved poetry, both reading and also writing it and enjoyed " Jeopardy " nightly. She also loved to travel and most especially to Europe where she had been seven times. Dorothy was an excellent seamtress and cook but most importantly, she was a great wife and mom. Dorothy was at her happiest when she was surrounded by her family. She is survived by her husband and children Kelly Ratliff, Kevin, his wife Lori Driscoll, Kathleen, her husband Garrie Dornan, Maureen Poss and Patrick Driscoll. She was a loving grandmother to Justin ( Jennifer ) Ratliff, Jordan and Sarah Ratliff, Brighid, Brendan and Liam Driscoll, Ashlinn Dornan, Patrick Poss, Kellie, Connor and Collin Driscoll and great grandmother of Charlotte Ratliff. Dorothy also leaves her sister Marge Jobe. She was preceded in death by her granddaughter Amanda. Visitation will be held at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 South Main Street, Plymouth on Tuesday, January 28, 2014 from 3 pm until 7 pm. Visitation will continue on Wednesday from 10 am until the time of the funeral mass at 10:30am at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, 47650 North Territorial Road ( at Beck Road ) Plymouth. She will be laid to rest on Thursday at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly. Contributions are suggested to St. Joseph Hospice.
