Donald V. Schinker, age 91 of Plymouth, passed away on July 20, 2021.
He is the beloved husband of 63 years to Carmen (née Morin) Schinker; loving father of five children – Don (Laurie) Schinker, Patty Gibbins, Bob Schinker, Jim (Darla Goulet) Schinker and Cathy (Ed) Skotzke; proud grandfather of nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He is deeply loved and will be greatly missed by his sister, Audrey (Bob) LaPalm.
Donald joined the United States Army and proudly served his country during the Korean War. After his discharge, he was a very proud United States military veteran. Donald loved to play golf. There was nothing like spending a few hours or an afternoon with friends, out on the golf course. Donald and Carmen were blessed with five children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Family was the most important thing in his life. He formed close bonds with his children and strengthened those relationships with all of his grandchildren. Donald was a very active parishioner at St. Kenneth Catholic Church in Plymouth. His faith and love for the Lord was evident throughout his entire life. He was a godly example of a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Friends may visit the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 South Main Street, Plymouth on Friday, July 23, 2021 from 3:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Donald will be in-state on Saturday, July 24, 2021 from 12:30 P.M. until the time of the Funeral Mass beginning at 1:00 P.M. celebrated by the Reverend Fr. Thomas Belczak at St. Kenneth Catholic Church, 14952 North Haggerty Road, Plymouth. He will be laid to rest with Military Honors at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan.
