Donald L. Schroeder, Sr.

Donald Schroeder Sr. passed away on Thursday November 10, 2022 at the age of 97. Donald was born in Farmington, Michigan on September 16, 1925, to Bertha and Floyd Schroeder, but lived a majority of his life in Plymouth. He served in the U.S. Navy for three years during WWII and was awarded WWII Victory Ribbon, American Area Ribbon, Asiatic-Pacific Ribbon, and Philippine Liberation Ribbon, with one star.

On May 21, 1947, he married the love of his life, who preceded him in death, Louise Schroeder. Together they shared 64 years of married life in Plymouth, Michigan, and raised their three sons. Over the years Don worked for Daisy Air Rifle and Burroughs. Don and Louise were also longtime members of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran church of Plymouth.  Don loved taking car rides through the park, Lee's chicken, and spending as much time as he could with his grandchildren.

Don is survived by his sons, Donald Jr., Gary (Ellen) and Jeff (Lori) Schroeder. Also surviving are his grandchildren; Anne (Dan) Wilson, Nathan (Ingrid) Schroeder, Terri (Ben) Elder, Chelsea Schroeder, Chad Schroeder, & Dayna (Ryan) Schaeffer; and great grandchildren, Hannah, Levi, Bernadette, Greta, Amelia, Ruth, Miriam, Jackson, & Dustin.

Visitation will be held at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 S. Main St, Plymouth, on Tuesday, November 15, from 2-8pm. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, November 16, from 10am until the time of the funeral service at 11am at St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1343 Penniman Ave., Plymouth with Pastor Paul Schaefer officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Plymouth.
