Dianne F. Griswold, a beloved mother, sister, and friend, passed away on May 13th, 2023 in Plymouth, Michigan. She was born on April 24th, 1945 in Cleveland, Ohio to the late William Paul and Frances Lenore (nee' Mosser) Erxleben.
Dianne will always be remembered as an outstanding teacher who impacted countless students with her boundless dedication to education. She graduated from Livonia Bentley High School in 1963 and Eastern Michigan University in 1967, where she eventually earned her Master's Degree in 1971. After graduating, she devoted herself to making a difference in her community by teaching youth at various schools in Allen Park, Belleville and St. Martin de Porres in Detroit. She retired in 2008 from St. Mary's Catholic Central High School in Monroe, Michigan, with an abundance of love and admiration from her colleagues and students.
While a majority of her career was spent teaching, Dianne also worked as a pharmaceutical and insurance sales representative. She was also a level III Reiki master and a longtime member of the Lighthouse Center in Whitmore Lake. Dianne authored a book called “A Slice of Time” and volunteered for Civitans and other social groups. But above all else, she truly relished spending time with loved ones and playing euchre.
Dianne leaves behind a legacy of love and fond memories that those closest to her will forever cherish. Her surviving family members include her daughter Gwendolyn (Brian) Roney; sisters Marlene Erxleben and Lynne (Michael) Just; and nephew Clinton Thornton. Dianne was preceded in death by her grandson Austin Griswold Roney.
Although we mourn the passing of Dianne, we celebrate the life of an incredible woman whose mark on the world will not be forgotten anytime soon. May you rest peacefully Dianne. Your dedication to your work, your family and your friends is a true inspiration for all those who have been blessed to cross paths with you throughout your life.
