Passed away at his home with his family by his side on Friday, May 6, 2011 at the age of 67. Dennis, known as " Butch " was born in Detroit on May 11, 1943 the son of Andrew and Marie (Sikorski) Hannak. He graduated from High School in Dearborn and served with the United States Army in Vietnam in the artillery. After his Army service he began work as an ironworker but then went to work for General Motors as a millwright. He worked at the Romulus engine plant and retired in 2002 after 30 years of faithful service. The family has resided in the Plymouth area and also at their home in Naples, Florida which he dearly loved. Butch had numerous interests and hobbies including a love of fishing, motorcycles, especially Harley's, lawnmowers and card games. Echere being his special game. He was a great cook and loved to eat. He was also a great shopper always looking for the deals at Cosco. In Florida he set up his own little market at their condo after doing his shopping for produce in Immokalee, Florida. Butch and Sheryl had many great years dancing through life together. He is survived by his loving wife of nineteen years Sheryl, his children, Doug (Andrea) Hannak, Sandra Bungard, step-children Kelli (Joe) Turi and Troy (Erica) Issacson. Also surviving are his grandchildren Justin, Kyle, Nathan, Nolan, Lauren, Emily, Rachel, Hailey and another on the way. Butch also leaves behind his two siblings, Andy (Joan) Hannak and Marlene (Bill) Lehman, his brother-in-laws Bill (Rosemary) Harrigan, Jack (Marlene) Harrigan, Kevin Harrigan and Brian (Kathy) Harrigan and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 South Main Street, Plymouth on Tuesday from 2pm until 9pm. Visitation will continue on Wednesday from 10am until the time of the funeral service at 11am from the First Presbyterian Church of Plymouth, 701 Church Street.
