Debra Jean Johnson, nee Lundin , a devoted wife, mother, Oma, and friend, passed away on March 8, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and hospitality.
Born on October 23, 1956, in Detroit, Michigan, Debi was a true Michigan girl at heart. She graduated from Plymouth High School and grew up with a passion for dance, studying ballet from the age of three and later attending Interlochen and Joe Michaels Dance Center in Miami, Florida.
Debi married the love of her life, Steven Wayne Johnson, in 1988, in Glen Arbor, Michigan. Together, they shared a beautiful life, filled with love, laughter, and adventure. Steve preceded her in death on January 31, 2021.
Debi's family was her greatest joy. She is survived by her three children: Andrew James Powers (wife Victoria, children Charlotte and Emilia), Beth Ellen Biddle (husband Andrew Biddle, children Ethan and Lillian), and Carol Christina Smith (husband Ash, children Elin, Matilda, and Harrison). She also leaves behind three stepsons: Jeremy (wife Alyssa, children Lucas and Lucy), Jonathan (wife Kristin, children Graham, Vivian, and Audrey), and Chad (wife Julie). Her father: Earl Lundin. Sisters: Carol (husband Dan), Nancy (husband Dennis), and by her brother Eric (wife Bonnie). Also survived by many nieces and nephews
She was was preceded in death by her mother, May Lundin.
Debi's love and generosity extended far beyond her family. She was a beloved member of Calvary Baptist Church, where she formed lasting friendships and served with kindness and compassion. In her free time, Debi enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, crochet, shopping, painting, and decorating. Her home was always filled with warmth, love, and plenty of homemade baked goods.Debi was also proud of her strong Swedish heritage.
Debi's favorite scripture verse, Psalm 143:8, reflected her deep faith and trust in God: "Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you."
Debi will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her. Her legacy of love, kindness, and hospitality will continue to inspire and uplift those who were blessed to know her.
A visitation to honor Debi’s life will be held at Calvary Baptist Church, 43065 Joy Road, Canton, MI, 48187, on Sunday, March 16, 2025, from 1:00pm to 3:00pm. Following visitation, a memorial service will be held. A private family burial will take place at Glen Eden cemetery on Monday, March 17, 2025.
The family is asking that donations be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society.
