Debra Anne Covington, age 67, died in her sleep after a decades-long battle with ataxia on March 19th, 2020.
Deb was born on May 31st, 1952 to Nellie Ruth Huston Cardinal and Roy Edward Cardinal. Deb’s girlhood dream was to marry and have children. On September 22, 1972, Deb married the love of her life, William (Bill) Covington. Bill and Deb fell in love when they were juniors in high school and raised two boys who Deb loved more than words can describe. Deb is survived by her husband Bill, her sons Brian (Kristina) Covington, and Adam (Katy) Covington, her grandchildren Sean, Luke, Sophie, and Henry Covington, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Ruth Cardinal, and brother Jeffrey.
Deb was an incredibly strong woman who handled a myriad of life’s tragedies with incredible grace. She never wavered in her insistence in looking at the bright side of life. Her greatest love and proudest accomplishment was her family. In her words, she lived a wonderful life and got to travel and see more than she could have ever thought possible. Those who carry her memory will strive to exhibit the endless wealth of strength, perseverance, grace, love that Deb showed every day of her life.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 9, 2021 beginning at 11:30 A.M. at Riverside Cemetery, 680 Plymouth Road, Plymouth, Michigan. A Reception will follow the Service at Fiamma Grille, 380 South Main Street, Plymouth, MI.
