David W. Essig passed away November 15, 2012 at the age of 66. He was born October 31, 1946 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Michael and Evelyn(Darr)Essig. David is greatly loved and will be dearly missed by his beloved wife Marie, his children David(Nichole)Essig and Sarah Essig. He also leaves his dear grandson Liam. David was preceeded in death by his dear son Michael in 1988. Also surviving are his brother Dr. Michael(Debra)Essig, sister Mary(Joseph)Mehl and dear friend Anthony(Maureen)Talak. David was a 34 year resident of Plymouth. He retired from General Motors in 2009 as the CIO(Chief Information Officer). He previously worked at Ford Motor Company. He was currently working as a consultant for Baker Hughes, which is located in Houston, Texas. David received his Masters of Economics from Purdue University and had finished his Doctoral work all but for his dissertation. He served his country in the United States Air Force from 1964 to 1968. He loved football, but especially loved the Pittsburgh Steelers. He also enjoyed visiting the casinos. Funeral Services will be Monday, November 19, 2012, 10:30AM at St. Kenneth Catholic Church, 14951 Haggerty Rd., Plymouth. Friends may visit Saturday 6-9PM and Sunday 2-8PM at Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 S. Main St., Plymouth, and at church Monday beginning at 10AM. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Plymouth. Memorials may be made to Karmanos Cancer Foundation.
