David Carl Guastella

David Carl Guastella was a truly remarkable soul. He was passionate about the arts and dedicated a great deal of his life to pursuing stand-up comedy, writing, music and podcasting. He balanced his creativity with a teaching career where he committed his time to working with under-served communities in Chicago.

Dave was also blessed with a rich family life and had the opportunity to take on the adventure of being a father before he passed away. He is loved and remembered by his wife Mary Novokhovsky, married August 6, 2017 and their precious daughter Sophia. Beloved son of David & Theresa Guastella and son-in-law of Vladimir & Karina Novokhovsky. Siblings; Jonathon (Renee) Guastella and Alexis (Zachary) Gambrell. Grandparents: Ralph & Mary Lou Guastella and Elaine Metz. Also survived by many cousins, aunts, uncles, students, co-workers and friends.

David made a profound impact on many people across different communities and backgrounds. His authenticity permeated through everything he did and everybody he spoke to. He will be dearly missed.

Visitation Sunday, January 13th from 1:00pm-9:-00pm at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home 280 South Main St, Plymouth. There will be a Vigil/Reflection service at 7:00pm. Please be aware that on Sunday the Plymouth Ice Festival will be in effect, throughout the city of Plymouth there will be several large orange detour signs directing everyone to the funeral home. Funeral mass will held at St. Thomas A'Becket Catholic Church 555 Lilley Rd, Canton on Monday, January 14th at 10:30am. David will lie in state beginning at 10:00am until time of mass. Interment and committal services will be held at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery immediately following funeral mass.
