November 9, 1961 — March 18, 2023

Darrell James Losey

After a sudden onset of illness and a valiant three month attempt of fighting the diseases, Darrell
James Losey passed away peacefully with family and friends at the Veteran’s Hospital of Ann
Arbor.

Born November 9, 1961 and first son of Darrell & Harriet (Jones) Losey of Jackson, Michigan,
Darrell was brother to Marianne, David, & Robert (Pamela). A funny and loving uncle to Sara
(Bryan Rochleau), Kristen (Bill Kasper), Drew, Katelyn (Brian Fivecoat), Breanna, and Megan.
After moving to Garden City, Michigan and graduating from Garden City West High School in
1980, Darrell enlisted into the United States Navy. Darrell trained in San Diego, California as a
Naval Corpsman receiving medical “A School” and Field Medical Service School training.
Darrell was assigned to the U.S. Marine’s Special Operations Command in Camp Lejeune, North
Carolina, and received his Special Operations Combat Medic HM3 rank. Darrell served at the
Philadelphia Naval Hospital and received his Sea Service ribbon aboard the USS Charleston
(LKA-113).

After his service, Darrell was the true “Jack of All Trades.” Although being medically trained
and well-read, Darrell always loved to learn new things and had a knack for learning fine trades.
Darrell was very successful, professional, and award-winning as a finish carpenter. He also
worked as a water meter installer, dispatcher for Kroger, copy repair service technician, window
installer, and was always honing his cooking skills. Darrell loved the outdoors, nature, wildlife,
and laughing. Darrell would be the first to tell you more about any topic in discussion than you
probably ever wanted to know.

Darrell had an eclectic love for music, dance, drinking, and all around shenanigans. He was often
the one with no filter and had to be reeled in after “crossing the boundaries”. However, he also
brought the same level of boundless compassion to his friends and family. He was an extremely
caring person who would help out in a time of need.

A Celebration of Life Service will be Sunday, March 26, 2023 from 12-4pm at
Weber’s Inn of Ann Arbor (Banquet Hall)
