Passed away at his home with his family beside him on Monday, January 6, 2014 at the age of 88. Daniel was born in Detroit on March 17, 1925 the son of Harold C. and Love M.( nee Barriuso ) McCulloch. He attended Detroit Public School graduating from Southwestern High School. Daniel served his country during World War II in the United States Army Air Corps in England as a radio operator. After his return home from service he received his B.A. in English from Wayne State University and then his Masters in Education also from Wayne State. Later he obtained a Masters in Library Science from the University of Michigan. For over 20 years he was a librarian at Wayne State University and then for the last five years of his working years he served as librarian for Northville High School. From 1962 until the present time the family has resided in Plymouth. Some of Daniel's interests included reading, writing fiction, watching horse racing and he also was deeply interested in geology. In 1950 he married Dorothy ( nee Hamlin ) who survives him along with his children Daniel Jr., Christopher ( Connie ) and Dorothy ( Robert ) Sawyer. He also leaves behind his two grandchildren Shelby and Robert Sawyer. A Memorial Gathering will be held at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 South Main Street, Plymouth on Saturday, April 12, 2014 from 12 noon until time of eulogy Service at 2 pm.
