Passed away at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Superior Township on August 28, 2012 at the age of 80. He was born in what was then East Detroit on May 7, 1932, the son of Benedict and Grace ( Kern ) Krankel. Conrad served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict having a duty station in Alaska. He received his B.A. and Master's of Business Administration from the University of Michigan and had worked for Ford Motor as a financial analyst for thirtyseven years retiring in 1994. Conrad was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening, traveling and camping and was a devoted fan of the Tigers and the University of Michigan sports teams. While at the University he played clarinet in the Marching Band and continued in the Plymouth Community Band. He also sang in the Community Choir and the church choir at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church. On July 13, 1957 he married Ann Blashill and together they shared 51 years of married life. Ann passed away in 2008. Conrad is survived by his children Nancy Yanska, Barbara Krankel and John ( Robin Pallos ) Krankel. Also surviving are grandchildren Michael D. and David J. ( Cynthia ) Krankel and great grandchildren Andrew J. and Nicholas L. Yanska. A Memorial Mass will be held at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, 47650 North Territorial Road at Beck on Saturday, September 1, 2012 at 10:30am. Visitation will begin at 10am. Interment will be held at the DeWitt City Cemetery, 780 Bridge Street, DeWitt, Michigan.
