Clarence G. Brandon

Clarence G. Brandon passed away at St. Mary Mercy Hospital in Livonia on Thursday, December 18, 2014 at the age of 94. Clarence was born in Obion County, Tennessee, the son of Richard and Mary ( Jennings ) Brandon. During World War II he served with the United States Army. In 1940 he married the former Rachel May Brown and together they shared a marriage of 65 years. Rachel passed away in 2006. During the couples years in Tennessee they farmed and began a family. In 1951 the family moved to Plymouth where Clarence worked as an auto mechanic with West Brothers of Plymouth. Later he worked for American Verderfied in Livonia a manufacturer of concrete pipe and then for the last twenty years of his working life he was a front-end loader operator with a sand a gravel pit in Northville Township. Clarence retired in 1982 but that did not end his working life. He became a handy man in Plymouth doing all sorts of jobs including concrete work, painting, cleaning and lawn servicing. Clarence also enjoyed fishing, working with tools and carpentry and he was an active member in the Plymouth Church of Christ. But above all, Clarence was a family man. His son Bob summed it up, "he was a great man of character, honesty and dependability, his word was his bond". He is the dear father of Bob ( Pat ) Brandon, Donna ( Jimmie ) Gribble, Tonya Willette and the late Jackie Brandon. Also surviving are his grandchildren Chris ( Lauren ) Brandon, Rachel Leann ( Steven ) Jones, Dr. Timothy ( Milayna ) Brandon, Michelle ( Ken ) Lindberg, Susan ( Thomas ) Strey and Dirk Willette, great grandchildren Angela, Joshua, Kara, Allison, Benjamin, Calvin, Ian and Molly. Brother of William, L. D. and Clyce Brandon and the late Melvin Brandon. Visitation will be held at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 South Main Street, Plymouth, Monday from 3 pm until 8 pm where funeral services will be conducted by Alan Rupert on Tuesday, December 23, 2014, at 11 am. He will be laid to rest beside his wife in Riverside Cemetery, Plymouth.
