ClaraBelle Hartwick formerly of Flint, passed away July 24, 2016, at the age of 96. She was born in Flint, Michigan on July 9,1920 to William and Belle (nee Glover) Pyles. ClaraBelle married the love of her life, Glen Christie Hartwick on July 19,1939 and was married for 59 years. ClaraBelle is survived by her daughter Sandra(Leon) Hanson, her grandchildren Christie (Eric) Banners, Karl (Ashley) Hanson, Tom Hanson, Matthew (Terri) Hartwick and Glen Hartwick, her great grandchildren Teddy and Sylvie Banners, Lars, Ruth, Leo, Hans and Frederick Hanson, Jayd, Shayla Hartwick, Kyle Boone, Courtney and Justin Szagesh and her siblings Bill Pyles and HenryEtta Hartwick as well as many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews and great great nieces, nephews and other loving extended family members and her loving friends and caregivers at Waltonwood Carriage Park in Canton. ClaraBelle was preceded in death by her loving husband Glen, son Alan, siblings, Howard, Pearl,Huey, Glen, Ken, Ron, Agnes, Alice, Aileen, Chuck, Dave and Eleanor.
ClaraBelle loved life and all the people in her life. She welcomed each new person into her life with love and acceptance. She was an accomplished painter in both water color and porcelain painting. She was an avid game player, gardener, traveler and teacher of how to enjoy life. She participated in most of the art, music and social activities at Waltonwood for the five years she lived there. She added her own special touch to aging gracefully with her own motto " She intended to wear out not rust out!"
A Memorial Gathering for ClaraBelle will be Sunday, July 31, from 11-1pm at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 S. Main Street, Plymouth, 48170. Her Memorial Service will begin immediately following at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may Prader-Willi Syndrome Association
