Christine Nancy Kostrewa

Christine Nancy Kostrewa passed away suddenly on Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at the age of 68. Christine was born in Detroit the daughter of Frank and Sophie ( Szczepanski ) Penkala on February 21, 1945. She attended Detroit Public Schools, graduating from Cody High School. In 1964 she married Gary Kostrewa and together they shared a 49 year marriage. They first resided in Detroit but for the past 40 years have resided in Canton. Christine was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church where she was a Minister of Hospitality. Her interests and hobbies included gardening, reading and music. Christine adored her dog, Sammy, a cocker spaniel. She loved to watch and feed the birds in her yard and also cared for several in her home. She was a truly devout woman, to her family and to her church. She is survived by her husband and children, Cheri, Diana ( David ) Lehigh, Steven ( Venus ) Kostrewa and Karen ( Scott ) Gamache. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Karl, Erik, Amy, Bruce and Matthew and brother Frank ( Mary Carol ) Penkala. Visitation will be held at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 South Main Street, Plymouth on Thursday from 12 noon until 8 pm. Visitation will continue on Friday from 9:45 am until time of the Funeral Mass at 10:30 am at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, 47650 North Territorial Road ( at Beck Road ) Plymouth.
