Charlie W. Sample

Charlie W. Sample, age 87 of South Lyon, Michigan passed away on March 20, 2024.

He was born on March 29, 1936 in Detroit, Michigan to his parents, the late Lilllian (née McDonald) and Charles Sample.

Charlie enjoyed a 30-year career as an Engineer at Ford Motor Company.  He was a car enthusiast.  Charlie was drawn to the beauty and design of all motor vehicles as well as the craftsmanship, the power and the performance of all cars.  Charlie was also into woodworking and he was an artist too.   He loved to paint.  Charlie also made time to be a youth football and baseball  also coached in South Lyon and the surrounding areas.

He is the beloved and devoted husband of Emma (nee Hong) Sample; loving father of three sons - Roy (Jenny) Sample, William Sample and the late Chuck Sample; proud grandfather of Justin, Andrew and Reise; brother-in-law of Randy (Heather) Hong and Paul (Pauline) Hong.  He is deeply loved and will be greatly missed by his nieces and nephews, Vicki Hong, Kevin (Luna) Hong, Christine Hong, Angela (Tim) Garvey, Cecilia Hong, Ben Hong and his daughter-in-law Mary Sample.

Charlie will lovingly be remembered by all of his family, friends and all whose life was touched by him.

 Friends may visit the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 South Main Street, Plymouth, Michigan on Friday, March 22, 2024 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.  There will be a Prayer Service at 7:00 P.M.

 A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Andrew Kim Korean Catholic Church, 21177 Halsted Road, Northville, Michigan on Saturday, March 23, 2024 beginning at 11:00 A.M.  Charlie will be instate at 10:30 A.M. until the start of the Funeral Mass.

 Charlie will be laid to rest with Military Honors at Great Lakes National Cemetery at Holly, Michigan Monday, March 25, 2024 at 10:00 A.M.
