Passed away at his home on August 13, 2012 at the age of 93. Charles was born in Mundelein, Illinois the sixth child of thirteen to Will A. and Ethel M. ( Knedler ) Ray. In the early years of World War II he was hired by Henry Ford II personally and over the span of a forty year career with Ford Motor Company became an engineer specializing in fuels and testing engines. The family moved to the Plymouth area in 1959 and were active members in Calvary Baptist Church and later Wayne Baptist Church. Other interests and enjoyments in his life was his small farm he had in Canton Township, birdwatching or anything to do with the out-of-doors. As his children stated Charles was " generous to a fault," never complaining and always wanting to help in any way he could, but the greatest joy in his life was his family. He is survived by his wife Frances and his children Patricia Ray, Robert Ray, Stephen K. ( Janet ) Ray, David M. Ray and Timothy S. ( Patricia ) Ray. Nine grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren also survive. Visitation will be held at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 South Main Street, Plymouth on Wednesday from 2pm until 8pm with funeral services being conducted at 10am Thursday at the funeral home. The Reverend Larry Roland of Rockford Baptist Church of Grand Rapids officiating. Interment will follow in Lapham Cemetery.
