Charles R. Waite

July 30, 1937 — December 8, 2020

Charles R. Waite, age 83 of Plymouth passed away on December 8, 2020.

Charles was born in Detroit, Michigan on July 30, 1937 to his parents, the late Robert and Sara (née Brown) Waite. He is the beloved and devoted husband of 61 years to Carol Ann (née Sanford) Waite. They were married on June 6, 1959 at Divine Child Catholic Church in Dearborn, Michigan. Charles is the loving father of Robert (Beverly) Waite and Mary Ann (Michael) Jenkins; proud grandfather of Amanda (Rob) Blaesser, Charles Christopher (Jamie) Waite, Kelly (Ashley) Waite, Andrew Waite, Matthew (Megan) Jenkins, Ryan Jenkins, Jessica Jenkins and Mary Jenkins; great-grandfather of Isaac Waite, Jack Jenkins and Henry Jenkins. He is deeply loved and will be greatly missed by his sister, Carol Weyand.

Charles and Carol Ann loved traveling as happy campers all over the U. S. in their R.V. They loved their travel to various parts of the United States. They enjoyed exploring the country while being able to take all the comforts of their home on the next journey and being able to feel at home while on the road.

Charles enjoyed the game of golf. There was nothing like an afternoon out on the golf course with friends who enjoyed the game as much as he did. He enjoyed the warmth of the sun on his shoulders on a perfect sunny day and even enjoyed all of the challenges of golf such as the cool and crisp weather of early spring and even the missed putts.

When the college football season began, their R.V. was also the vehicle used at all of their tailgaiting parties at the University of Michigan weekend football games. Tailgating is what everyone who enjoys college football does on a Saturday afternoon before the start of the game. Charles was a devoted Wolverines fan. He and Carol Ann enjoyed the fast pace of football, the joy of the victories, and even more so, the relationships made with the weekly fans while tail-gaiting.

Charles’ family knew his work was very important to him. The successful four-generation, family-owned cab and transportation company was started by his father and continued with him. Charles worked hard to provide for his family and to hand the business on to his son and grandson.
Above all things in life, Charles was first and foremost a family man. He treasured his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and had a special relationship with each and every one of them.

He also proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps.

Charles will be in-state at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, 47650 North Territorial Road, Plymouth on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at 10:00 A.M. until the time of the Funeral Mass beginning at 10:30 A.M.
