Charles D. Britton

Passed away at Angela Hospice in Livonia on Friday, February 21, 2014 at the age of 87. Charles was born in Enfield, Illinois on September 26, 1926 the son of Charley and Lillian M. ( nee Renshaw ) Britton. He graduated from school in Enfield and at the age of 17 joined the United States Marines and saw combat at Peleliu and at Okinawa. After returning to the States he married his sweetheart, Marjorie L. ( nee Winter ) on May 19, 1946. Charles worked as an electrician for General Motors at the Hydramatic Plant in Yspilanti for 37 years retiring in 1988. He was an avid sports fan and also enjoyed fishing and gardening, especially his roses. As his daughter stated, her father was a true ' family man. " He is survived by his wife Marjorie and children Linda Thomas, Jane ( Fred ) Patete, Stan ( Jo ) Britton, Kenneth Britton and Jim ( Cathy ) Britton. Nine grandchildren, Jon-Paul, Rachel, Jalyn, Ben, Ashley, Trevor, Ryan, Rebecca and Emily, seven great grandchildren Nathan, Charlie, Brooke, CarlyJane, Jordan, Jacqueline and Justin and sister Lyndell Nibling-Tooley also survive. Visitation will be held on Monday from 5 pm until the time of the funeral service at 7 pm at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 South Main Street, Plymouth.
