Charles Albert Groth of Daytona Beach, Florida, formerly of Plymouth, Michigan, passed away September 7, 2011, at the age of 94. He is the beloved husband of Carol. Dear father of Larry (Sandra) Groth, Richard Groth, and Paul (Linda) Groth. Dearest grandfather of Larry (Kristi) Groth Jr.,Timothy, Stephanie (Louis) Carney, Paul (Dawn) Groth II, and Brett (Kelly) Groth. Great Grandfather of Alyssa, Ryan, Tyler, Alissa, Paul Groth III, Bradley Groth, and Jacob Charles Carney. Great Great Grandfather of Brayden Baskin. Charles was born and raised in South Lyon, Michigan, where he laterbecame a member of the Fire Department. He served in South Lyonfor 12 years and was the Assistant Fire Chief in South Lyon upon his leaving. He then joined the Plymouth Fire Department rising through the ranks until he achieved the title of Acting Fire Chief. He retired from Plymouth in 1980, after 27 years of service.In addition, he served both communities as an auxilliary Police Officer.Friends may visit at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 S. Main St., Plymouth, Wednesday, September 14, 2011, from 1-4pm with a Memorial Service at 4pm. Pastor John Shinn will beofficiating.Burial will take place at Salem-Walker Cemetery.
