Charlene B. Berry passed away at her home on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at the age of 81. Charlene was born in Detroit, the daughter of Hobart S. and Viola B. ( nee Akins ) Lannom on July 2, 1933. She attended Detroit Public Schools graduating from McKenzie High School. Before her marriage she worked in various stores including Rose Jewelry and Sears. In early 1953, while attending a Jitterbug Session, she met the man who would become her husband, James G. Berry. They married in 1955 and together shared a marriage lasting 56 years. Jim passed away in 2011. The family reside in Dearborn for a good 50 years before moving to Northville. Charlene loved to read, mysteries and novels being her areas of interest. She also loved to do crossword puzzles, bowling and watching the Tigers, MSU football and professional tennis matches. She traveled to many places, St. Kitts, London, Paris and the Middle East among the many travel stops she visited. Charlene adored animals, especially her kitty, " Cami ." She is survived by her five children, James G. ( Annette ) Berry II, Valerie ( Thomas ) Winiesdorffer, Michael Berry, Kimberly ( Steven ) Grizer and Melissa ( David Jr. ) Killinger. Charlene also leave her grandchildren Leah ( Brian ) Grossweiler, Danielle ( Patrick ) Smith, Kurtis, Sheldon, Ashley, Anthony and James Berry III, Brandon and Jordan Grizer and Sloane and David III Killinger and great-grandchildren Amirah and Richard Grossweiler. Charlene was preceded in death by her brother Jack Lannom. Visitation will be held Saturday, May 30th, 4 pm until 9 pm and Sunday, May 31st, 1 pm until 3pm at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 South Main Street, Plymouth where funeral services will be held on Sunday at 3 pm. Contributions are suggested to St. Jude's Children Hospital or Angela Hospice.
