Carlo J. Bova, age 90, passed away on Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at Angela Hospice in Livonia. Carlo was born at Clarksburg, West Virginia on March 12, 1922 the second of eleven children of Clemente and Erminia ( Cipro ) Bova. The family moved to Detroit where Carlo graduated from high school. The family attended St. Mary Catholic Church while in Detroit. During World War II he served with the United States Army in the Pacific Theater of Operations. After the war he went to work for the Ford Motor Company, working mainly in quality control. He broke up his 42 years of service with Ford's to join the United States Navy in 1948, serving aboard the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt, a fast attack aircraft carrier. After this period of service to the country he returned to Ford's retiring in 1983. Carlo loved Big Band music and loved collecting records of this genre. He was also an affectionato of Garage Sales and Rummage Sales. Other interest included watching wrestling and attending various Church Festivals. He is survived by his son Michael( Monica)Bova and grandchildren Karen and Brian Bova. He is also survived by nine brothers and sisters. His twin brother passed away last year. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 from 1pm until 9pm at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 South Main Street, Plymouth. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, May, 31, 2012 at 10am with Father Thomas Belczak of St. Kenneth Catholic Church officiating.
