Carl William Stamper passed away on Dec. 31, 2017, one day after his 90th birthday. He was born Dec. 30, 1927 in Beattyville, Kentucky son of the late George and Jestine Stamper. He married the love of his life, Alene, and had 67 years together in Plymouth, Michigan. They were blessed with two devoted sons, Mark (Lee) and Tim. Carl was the very proud grandfather of Jon (Jennifer), Joe, Jenna, Mack, Everett, and Henry Stamper. He is also survived by his dear sister, Georgia (Stamper) Gabbard and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Carl was preceded in death by his siblings Willie Vernal, Clifford, Mandy Jane, Edna, Ollie, Dewey and Geneva.
Carl was honored to serve his country in the Marine Corps. He retired from General Motors where he had worked as an accountant. He also retired from Plymouth Canton Community Schools where he did many things including caring for Geer School and serving as the inter-district mail carrier.
Anyone who ever had the pleasure of meeting Carl knew that he was truly a special person. His family and friends were his life. A true servant leader at home, at the Plymouth Church of Christ, and in the community. Carl was always there to lighten everyone’s load, and expected nothing in return. He was an example to all of us who knew him, living life to the fullest, bringing love and joy to all those around him. We called him Dear, Dad, Papaw, and friend; one could not ask for a better person than Carl. His strength, kindness, and quiet wisdom will be greatly missed.
