Bridget Therese Smith, 12, also known as Bridget the Brave, passed to her eternal reward on October 5, 2012. She is survived by her parents, Brian and Louise Smith of Plymouth, MI; her siblings, Patrick, Catherine, Daniel, Jack, Nora, and Mary Smith; her grandparents Deacon Dan and Mae Foley of Ann Arbor, MI; her grandfather John Smith (Noreen) of Sarasota, FL; her aunts Sarah Foley (Chicago, IL), Debbie (John) Sefton (Thousand Oaks, CA), and Margie (Butsch) Wrobel (Fairbanks, AK); and uncles Sean Smith (New York, NY) and Scott Smith (New York, NY). Bridget was preceded in death by her grandmother Barbara Borkowsky Smith. She was loved by many who took courage from her faith, strength, and attitude of joy. Bridget was a student of Huron Valley Catholic School before her disease took its toll and then a homebound student at Isbister Elementary School. Wake services will be held at Schrader-Howell Funeral Home in Plymouth, MI, on Tuesday, October 9, 2012, from 12:00 pm to 9:00 pm. The Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, 47650 N. Territorial Rd., Plymouth, MI, on Wednesday, October 10, 2012, at 10:30 am. There will be a viewing at the church beginning at 9:00 am prior to Mass and burial will immediately follow Mass. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to Kids Kicking Cancer, Camp Quality of Michigan, Rainbow Connection, or Huron Valley Catholic School, all wonderful organizations that supported her during her long battle with cancer.
