Beth Carol Walch born March 14, 1934 and peacefully passed on February 10, 2020. She was 85 years old.
Beth was a Plymouth resident nearly all her life. Born to Harold and Ethel Douglas and raised on a farm in Plymouth, she attended a one room schoolhouse. Beth attended Plymouth High School and then University of Michigan. She was married to Ralph Walch, the local minister’s son.
She is survived by her children: Pamela, Steve (Kathy) and beloved grandchildren Alex (Kelsey) and Phillip. As well as an incredible group of friends and neighbors.
She will be remembered by many as a wonderful listener, a confidant and good friend; offering advice or empathy.
She was struck at an early age with a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis and bravely battled if for decades. Beth loved gardening, classical music, ballet, reading, poetry, fishing, boating, University of Michigan football, Red Wings and the Lions (although not please with them). She was a pet lover to her dog, Nugget (golden retriever) and many cats throughout her life.
Beth was active in the First Presbyterian Church of Plymouth for more than 60 years and served as a deacon. She also remained active with her PEO sisterhood until the very end of her life. Another favorite role was that of Grandmother. She had two Grandsons, who learned “Hail to the Victors” at an early age, along with many trips to the park, for ice cream and stories snug in her chair.
She will be deeply missed by her family, her dear friends and all those who touched her vibrant life.
In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Michigan Multiple Sclerosis Society or Michigan Humane Society.
