Barbara Hamilton Carden passed away peacefully on August 17, 2024, in Canton, Michigan, at the age of 91 years. She was born on October 6, 1932 in Dearborn, Michigan to her late parents Leo and Mary (Szejbach) Hamilton.
A proud graduate of Fordson High School in Dearborn, her education laid the foundation for a career that brought her satisfaction and pride. Barbara was a devoted legal secretary for the City of Dearborn, working with both judges and city attorneys.
In 1967, Barbara married the late Lonnie Carden with whom she shared a love for horses and variety of pets including their cats and dogs. The couple resided in numerous American cities, enjoying the various landscapes of the United States. Barbara also traveled to other parts of the world, experiencing the different cultures of Europe, South America and the Caribbean to name a few.
Throughout her life, Barbara cherished the connections with her family and created lasting memories with those she loved. She is remembered fondly by her surviving family, including her nephew Jeff (Karen) Saladin, nieces Jean (David) LaPointe, Nancy (Ed) Goethals, and Sue Haron. Additionally, Barbara leaves behind many great nieces and nephews who will carry on her legacy within the family.
In addition to her husband Lonnie and parents Leo and Mary, Barbara is preceded in death by her sisters Virginia Haron and Gerry Saladin, and her nephew Tom Haron.
Family and friends may pay their respects beginning at 10 A.M. on Friday, August 23, 2024, at St. Kenneth Catholic Church,14951 N. Haggerty Road, Plymouth, Michigan. A funeral mass will follow at 11 A.M. at the church. Those wishing to honor Barbara may make a donation in her name to Friends for Animals, 16121 Reckinger Road, Dearborn, Michigan 48126. Donation envelopes will be available at the church.
Barbara Hamilton Cardin will be laid to rest at Acacia Park Cemetery, 31300 Southfield Road, Beverly Hills, Michigan.
Barbara's passing is a great loss to her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be remembered for her kindness, professionalism, and the warmth she radiated in her interactions with others. Barbara's legacy will live on in the hearts of her loved ones and through their cherished memories of Barbara.
