Antoinette Bar

On the evening of May 21, 2015, Antoinette (Toni/Tosia) Bar, 78, of Plymouth, MI, passed away in the comfort of her own home following a tough but courageous battle with cancer. She is dearly missed and survived by her husband of 57 years, Albert Donald Bar (Don), her children and grandchildren: Linda (Jim) Rowell (Joe (Kristen), Lindsey); Deborah (Matt Anderson) Bar; Donna (Dan) Joppich (Allison, Kelsey, Catherine, Jessica); Susan (Tony) Renger (Tony, Sara, Samantha); Jeffrey Bar; Jacqueline Bar; as well as by her brother Peter (Carolyn) Zimmerman; her beloved cat Maggie; and the rest of her extended family and friends. She is preceded in death by her brother Victor Zimmerman. Toni was born in Detroit MI in 1937. She married Don in 1958 and they lived in Redford Twp. until 1972 when the couple moved their family to Plymouth. A stay-at-home mom while her six children were in school, Toni went to work at NSS Technologies from 1994 until her retirement. She was very active as a “Friend” of the Plymouth District Library and enjoyed her time sorting through books and making friends. She loved animals, books, and good wine. Most of all Toni loved her family. Toni Bar was a very caring, compassionate, generous, and loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, friend, neighbor, woman. A visitation is scheduled for Monday, May 25, 2015 at Schrader-Howell Funeral Home (280 S. Main St, Plymouth, MI) from 2:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish (47650 N. Territorial Rd, Plymouth, MI) on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Toni’s name to the Colon Cancer Alliance, www.ccalliance.org, the Cancer Research Institute (CRI), www.cancerresearch.org, or to the Plymouth District Library, www.plymouthlibrary.org.
