Anthony Joseph Boland passed away on Sunday, January 5, 2014 at the age of 91. Anthony was born in Detroit on January 10, 1922, the oldest of eight sons of Hazen and Amelia ( Waltman ) Boland. During World War II Anthony served with the United States Army Air Corps and was stationed at Molesworth, England attached to the 358th Squadron of the 303rd Bomb Group. He flew 35 missions over Germany as a bombardier and navigator in a B-17. He was a full Bird Colonel. After returning to the States he became a pilot. Anthony remained in the United States Air Force Reserves, serving his country for forty years. After ending active duty Anthony went to work with the Ford Motor Company in their marketing department. A major project area was organizing and selecting the models used to demonstrate the various cars shown at annual automobile shows. One of these models he selected later became his wife. Anthony was involved in many sporting activities including playing tennis and golf. He was also an excellent baseball player and enjoyed hockey and bowling. Flying was a special enjoyment of his life. Anthony is survived by his wife Nancy and children Michael Boland, Cheryl ( Richard ) Chrzanowski, Brian Boland and Barbara ( Gary Whittaker ) Boland. Also surviving are his grandchildren Rebecca ( James ) Jordan, Jeffrey Chrzanowski, Brandon Boland and great grandson Maxwell Jordan. A Memorial Gathering will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2013 from 2 pm until the time of the Memorial Service at 4 pm at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 South Main Street, Plymouth.
