Anna Hilda Fiorelli

On the evening of July 10, 2022, Anna passed away at her home where she resided for 65 years in Dearborn Heights. Anna was 101 years old.

Anna was born in Filion, Michigan on March 17, 1921. She was the second child and the first daughter of Charles and Ida (Carriveau) Oliver.

She grew up on a farm and was always a hard worker. After graduating from Kinde High School, she moved to the Detroit area and was employed by a Dairy Company. After working a short time at the dairy, she went to work for General Motors Cadillac Clark Street Assembly Plant for 20 years. She then transferred to the Cadillac Stamping Plant on Conner where she worked for another 22 years and retired after 42 years of service with General Motors.

Anna was a loving mother, and her family always came first. She had a very positive attitude and a great sense of humor.

She enjoyed working in her garden and tending to her house plants. She sure did have a green thumb and could grow anything. She liked to sew and paint ceramics and porcelain dolls. She loved to travel and went on many trips with the Berwyn Seniors Club, “The Busy Bee’s”, where she met many dear friends. She also was an avid reader.

Along with her many talents, she also enjoyed caring for her parakeets. She had many parakeets over 56 years.

Anna is survived by her beloved daughter, Nancy Jo Gauchey (Paul Zwarka) and son, Garry L. Carter; loving grandmother of six, great-grandmother of seventeen, great-great-grandmother of fifteen, and Aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Anna was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, Leo C. Fiorelli, her brothers, John and Donald, her sister Elaine C. LaMont and, her eldest daughter, Sharon L. Smith who passed away six days prior to her on July 4, 2022, and Jane Haining who is  Garry’s life partner of thirty-two years.

At the request of Anna, a private service will be held with interment at Woodlawn Cemetery in Detroit, Michigan.
