Ann Evans, age 78, passed away at Botsford Hospital on Friday morning, March 9, 2012, with her family beside her. Ann was born in Calumet, Michigan, on June 7, 1933, the daughter of Matthew and Ann (Hrebec) Verbanac. Her family moved to the Old Redford section of Detroit when she was eight years old, and it was there she finished her schooling, graduating from Redford High School. After graduation she went to work for AAA. During those years she met her husband, Stephen M. Evans, to whom she was married for some 52 years. After her marriage, daughters soon arrived, and she became totally immersed in their and her husband's happiness and development. Later, grandchildren came and she became the caring grandma. After her youngest daughter was in school, she went to work at Madonna College as a registrar. Among her interests and hobbies were helping out the schools her daughters attended, reading, gardening and cooking. She also loved to travel, no place in particular, just as long as it was someplace to go. The family also enjoyed the times spent at the cottage at Houghton Lake.
She is survived by her husband, Stephen, and daughters, Suzanne (Robert) Light, Cheryl (Daniel) Mathena, Laura (Thomas) Jones and Michelle (Matt) Leighton. Six grandchildren, Tara, Brenton, Stephen, Michael, Sarah and Tanner, also survive, along with her brother, Paul Verbanac.
