Andreas Peter Hogh, age 93 of Novi, Michigan, passed peacefully on March 9, 2019, surrounded by his close and loving family. Born and raised in Rodekro, Denmark, on February 27, 1926, he was the son of two loving parents, his father, the late Hans Peter Hogh and his mother, the late Anna Mathilde (Hansen) Hogh. Beloved husband of over 60 years to Winona (McLaren) Hogh and loving father to Christian (Dawn) Hogh of California, and Ingrid (Troy) Fischer of Novi. Proud and adoring grandfather of Shawn, Brennan and Brad. Peter was preceded in death by his brother, Hans Peter (Maini) Hogh.
In his youth, Peter enjoyed camping with his scouting troop and playing soccer. After graduating high school with honors, Peter completed two years of officer’s training in the Danish Army, where he ranked as a second lieutenant, in Kronborg, Denmark, and earned an electrical engineering degree from Aarhus Electrotecnicum in Aarhus, Denmark. He received additional educational and professional training in England at Pittmans College (London) and Lucas Service School (Brighton). While working for The East Asiatic Company in Denmark, in 1957, Peter was assigned to sell electrical equipment to businesses in Bangkok, Thailand, where he met his beloved wife, Winona (McLaren), a Michigan native. After being wed in Thailand, Peter and Winona settled in Livonia, Michigan, and began their family. Upon arriving in the United States, Peter could read and/or speak seven languages. Peter proudly worked as an electrical engineer for Chrysler Corporation in Highland Park for 33 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling, being a proud Boy Scout leader, reading, playing cards, and providing for all of his family’s needs. Peter will leave behind a legacy of love, laughter, strong family values and a love of God. More than anything, Peter loved his family, and always put them above all. Peter is deeply loved and his loving kindness and generosity will be greatly missed by his family and friends, and all whose life was touched by him.
A funeral service in honor and celebration of Peter’s life will be held on Thursday, March 14, 2019, at Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 South Main Street, Plymouth, MI 48170. Visitation will be held from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. immediately followed by a memorial service.
