Aída María Holguín

Aída María Holguín, age 90 of Canton, passed away on Sunday, September 9th, 2018.

Aida was born in Darien, Valle, Colombia on March 30th, 1928, daughter of Betsabé Holguín. She is survived by her devoted daughter Hilda Lucia (Mark) Partin, her two grandchildren Adriana (Matthew) Droste and Erik Partin and her great grandson Clayton Droste.

Aída was a beloved and cherished mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. She was a remarkably strong and resilient woman who, with faith, was able to succeed in her career as a nurse and in life even in the face of adversity. She was extremely dedicated to her family and after serving the people of Cali, Colombia for 25 years at the Seguro Social she retired and shortly thereafter started her new life in the United States. She became a U.S. Citizen on July 4th, 1995 and was proud to be called an American Citizen. She helped take care of her grandchildren full time, and was an absolute treasure and blessing to them. Aída was fondly remembered by many for her beautiful voice and her vibrant, joyous personality. Above all of her remarkable qualities she is most remembered for her loving and selfless heart. A woman of grace and godliness, she always had a warm smile and embrace to share with others. Her wisdom and kindness was profound, and she truly lived by example. May we all keep her memory alive in our hearts for years to come.

A viewing will be held for her on Tuesday, September 11th from 1-9pm at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home on 280 South Main Street, Plymouth. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 12th at 10:30am at Our Lady of Victory on 133 Orchard Drive, Northville.
