Abe A. Munfakh passed away March 13, 2020 at the age of 79. He was born in Syria February 8, 1941 to Antoine and Antoinette Munfakh. He is deeply loved and survived by his wife Darlene, his daughters Laila (Michael) Carr and Jennifer (Scott) Shaw, his grandchildren Emily Carr, Noelle Carr and Colleen Shaw. Also surviving are his 4 brothers George (Jimmie) Munfakh, Robert (Brooke) Munfa, Nasri (Therese) Munfakh and Nabil Munfakh, his brother-in-law Stephen (Becky) Kali and many nieces and nephews.
Abe was the Chairman of the Board of Munfakh and Associates LLC, an engineering management and consulting services firm, for the past 17 years. Prior to starting his own firm he was the President of Ayres, Lewis, Norris and May Civil Engineering for over 30 years. Abe was a 42 year resident of the Plymouth community. He proudly served the community as a member of the Plymouth Township Planning Commisson and the Board of Trustees. He also served as the Chairman for the Great Lakes Water Authority, Chairman for the Arab America Chaldean Chamber of Commerce, the Schoolcraft College Foundation and as a Plymouth Rotarian. He was also an active member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Church and was a graduate of Louisiana State University with a degree in Engineering. Abe was also very devoted to his family and loved spending time with them. He was a man of integrity, honesty and a kind heart.
Funeral Services will take place Wednesday, 10:30 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 47650 N. Territorial Rd., Plymouth. Visitation will be at the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 S. Main St., Plymouth, Tuesday 4 until 8 PM and Wednesday at church beginning at 10 AM. Prayers will be held Tuesday 7:30 PM at the funeral home. Abe will be laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery, Plymouth. Memorials may be made to the organization of the donor’s choice.
